Part Selection

Took my bike into LBS for tune up was not able to stay adjusted. Found out that the frong derailer was broken. Right now it has a Shimano Sora FD and I was looking to upgrade to a 105 only to find out all the new 105's are 10 speed and my bike is a 9 speed Should I just put a Tigra or try and locate an older 105? What is the advantages of a 105 vs tigra in real world terms. I'm a Clyde so weight is not a major factor.

Edit oh ya my front is a triple, 31.8 front with clamp

I don't think you'll find much difference at all in a front derailleur. If it were me I'd just keep my eyes open on ebay or at swap meets or something for a good used derailleur. There are tons of 9-speed parts still out there. (FWIW, I have tiagra and it works fine).

If you really wanted an upgrade and don't mind spending some extra $$, at least one place I looked still had a Dura Ace 9 speed FD in stock. It's a triple but it should shift a double no problem.

If money's a factor, just get the Tiagra. You likely won't notice any difference from one front derailler to the next. Chainrings and shifters make way more of a difference in shifting quality.
