Opinons on Suntour Acushift over Grip shifts

I picked up a bike (91 720 Trek multitrack hybrid) I plan to flip after some clean up and new tubes and it has a set of Acushifts on it that look interesting and seem to work well enough.

On my M400 made Hybrid I have Grip shifts I'm not particularly fond of. Seems that I manage to make unintentional shifts frequently jumping curbs or standing to pull hills etc. Thinking of swapping them before I sell the Trek.

Will the Indexing be the same between a Suntour Freewheel/derailleur and a Shimano Cassette/derailleur? (both are 7's). I have liked suntour parts I have tinkered with and have a couple bikes with that brand parts (had a Miyata six ten and my wife's Mixte has ARX's). This is the first set of Accushifts I have messed with and want to know if they are problem prone before I go to the trouble to do the swap.

Your best bet on the Shimano bike (if you are thrifty like me) is to try one of the lower end Tourney seven speed shifters. Niagara sells them for $12. I bought a set for my wife's Trek 950. Rear is indexed, front is friction.

Suntour components are not compatible with Shimano.

Well that puts an end to that. :) LOL Maybe this bike needs to become a single speed and get a set of drops.
What do you think about the Shimano ST-EF50 . I'm thrifty but $29 is not so bad. I like the below the bar style. Display is nice and says it will work with my V Brakes.

Shimano and ST Accushift shouldn't be compatible.
By the way, an 'M-' Cannondale would be a mountain bike. According to C-dale.

Yes thats correct but l made it more of a hybrid. That would be "H"400 for Hybrid if it was an actualy sold as hybrid. Hence the "M400 made hybrid" statement in my first post. It has street friendly 85 PSI tires, fenders, rack, riser bars.

My '94 Cannondale would be an H300 made singlespeed, then.
