9 speed cassette on 10 speed hub
After searching and finding conflicting information I thought I would try again.
My question is this. Can I use a 9 speed cassette with a 10 speed hub? Shimano parts.
Thanks.

Yes, unless the freehub body is aluminum DuraAce 10. Basically all other Shimano freehub bodies that are steel designed for 10 sp can accept 8, 9 or 10 speed cassettes.

The only hubs that are strictly 10 speed are the DuraAce 7800 series with the larger diameter aluminum splines on the cassette body. These hubs and prebuilt wheels that use this cassette body will not accept a 9 speed or SRAM cassette.
Any ultegra or lower level hub will have the steel cassette body with the shallow splines (8/9/10 speed). DuraAce 7850 hubs also have the shallow splines in Ti.
