Centaur rear derailleur

I have completed a build up with an 2009 Campy Centaur gruppo. The rd shifts perfectly up to the larger sprockets however it is not as crisp shifting down to the smaller sprockets. Almost as if the tension spring is not quite strong enough to pull the paralleogram down the cassette. Any suggestions for an adjustment? Thanks ---- Lp

Loosen the cable tension, with the barrel adjuster, to the point that the shifts to the larger cogs are sluggish, then tighten it back up just to the point that the shifts to the larger cogs are crisp. At this point, you should be within the adjustment "window" that gives good shifting in both directions. That's where you should start, anyway.

Thanks -- worked like a charm. It appeares Centaur can or is quite testy, but oh so smooth. Lp

I'm glad it worked for you. I've got '09 Centaur, and I agree, it's nice. Honestly, I found it easy to tune initially, and after about a thousand miles haven't needed to adjust the rear derailleur cable tension at all. I did tighten the front derailleur cable tension a little the other day, the chain wasn't quite as responsive jumping from the small ring to the big ring as it was before. A bit of "cable stretch," I suppose. About a half turn of the barrel adjuster and it's fine now.
