Shimano Ultegra STI Left Shifter Problem
I've been having a problem with my left Shimano Ultegra triple STI shifter. On occasion when shifting from the large chain ring to middle chain ring I push on the small lever and the lever moves without any resistance and doesn’t feel like it engages at all (I don’t know how these shifters work) If I push it one or two more times it engages and it will shift. The bike is about 3 years old and the problem is new. Any ideas what’s going on? Can anything be done? Is the shifter about to go?
Thanks

You might be able to fix it by cleaning it out with a lot of Brakleen or equivalent. Then lubricate it with a light oil. Other folks may use different stuff, like WD-40, but I've had success with the above.
I imagine that anything that will clean out the gunk and then lubricate it will help return it to functionality.
