Thank You Sheldon Brown

I had a very stuck fluted aluminum seat post in a steel frame. It came out fairly easily using Captain Bike's instructions. I placed the stuck post in a vise and turned the bike. Worked like a champ! www.sheldonbrown.com has a wealth of information.

Sheldon's website, which has carried on since his passing, is certainly a wealth of information. Many of us have appreciated this.
But there are other threads thanking Sheldon, and most people here are already aware of his website, so you might have just tagged your post onto the end of a "thank you sheldon" thread.

Bikes: I never learned to ride a bike. It is my deepest shame.

Being a student still, one of my goals in life is to settle down long enough to buy a vise. At the moment, I just don't want to have to move it I have to make due with multiple small vices instead. (zing!)

The key to a good vise is to mount it to a heavy well fastened down work bench
