Upgrade < Shimano XT> XT

I have a 1991 Schwinn KOM S9 with all Shimano XT in pristine condition. I want to replace the XT brakes, which are cantilever to new series XT "V" brakes. Even XTR.

Is this an easy swap?

Thanks

If you change the calipers to linear pulls (v's) you'll need to change the levers as well or use a "travel agent" device with your old levers. https://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...vel+Agent.aspx

What does the rear cable routing look like?

"V" brakes require a cable housing stop at the rear of the top tube or running cable housing continuously from the brake lever. Many canty equipped bikes lack the necessary cable stop. It's possible to purchase a clamp on cable stop but that might affect your esthetic sense.

You'll also need longer pull brake levers but I'm sure you're already aware of that.
