safe tyre width?
Hi i am looking to get some narrower faster tyresfor my hybrid. It currently has kenda kontact 700x38c that came with it.What is the narrowest tyres i could safely use. I f there is anymore info you need just yell.

You can go down to at least 700x32. Possibly narrower as most bike rims are pretty tolerant of tire width.

Thanks hillrider and wanderer for that info,it will most likely be a 28 or 32 i go for.Looking at the vittoria randonneur at the moment.I wonder how wide your supremes are wanderer and were they stock on the bike or did you swap them?

On a hybrid with typical rims you're looking at about 25-28 range as the minimum. Depends on the exact rim width and the specific tyre chosen.

Thanks Operator,these are the rims ::Weinmann 700c double wall explorer alloy rims equipped with alloy 36 hole quick release hubs dont know if you know anything of these.

As long as the bead is narrower than the widest part of your tire you should be ok. When you mount the new tire check and see that the bead doesn't look like it's rolling out at all.

Get yourself a set of calipers, measure the inside width of your rims, then look at this chart.
