greasing my driver?

hello i was just wondering if my driver needs greasing its a odyssey hazard casset and i was thinking weather to apply a little vasaline around the teeth in the hub shell. is grease essential or shall i just leave it.

You do not need to grease your cassette.

Keeping it clean is probably a good idea. Maybe a light coat of light oil if you were really persnickety. But grease is probably counter-productive there since it will only serve to collect grit.

Additionally, I long ago switched all bike-related uses of Vaseline over to Crisco.

I assume you mean to grease the freehub body, not the cassette itself. Yes, a thin layer of grease will help prevent corrosion if the freehub body is steel or aluminum. Do not grease the cogs themselves as all that will do is attract and hold dirt. Vaseline is not the grease of choice.

thank you it a 11 tooth driver with aluminium paws so i wont bother i will just keep it clean

There are specialized brushes made for cleaning cassettes/freewheels, but many sacrifice a toothbrush to this errand.

And for sex, I recommend Phil Wood grease.
