Stuck Shimano Shifter

My wife's Fuji Newest 2.0's shifter for the RD gets stuck in the biggest cog. Sometime, a second or third click will release it....sometime another shift inward followed by a click will release it. The LBS cleaned it and checked it out. They seem to think the shifter is bad (sucks as the bike is only a season old). The LBS checked the cables and they're perfect....it's definitely the shifter. Any other ideas to look at before having to plunk down more $$ on this thing?

try flushing the shifter with WD-40 and re lubing it with some light oil. if this doesn't work yes replacement is needed because the parts are not repairable.sorry.

Try tightening the B-screw. Look about halfway down on this page: https://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=64

Yeah...it's not the RD at all....it's all in the shifter.

On bikeman715's idea of lubing it....the LBS drown the sucker in WD40 to no avail.

Sounds like I'm SOL.
