Fender stay kits, without buying fenders?

Anyone know if fender stay kits are available for sale? I'm talking your typical SS rod looped in the middle and the bolts they pass through to mount to the fenders. I have two sets of old ESGE(now sks?) fenders, but no stays for them. Thanks!,,,,BD

I guess I could find SS rods and bend them myself, and buy some spare fender end clamping bolts?

Rivendell (rivbike.com) sells a kit with just the stays and mounting nuts. If you already have the fenders, their kit will do the trick. Also, Harris cyclery and Velo Orange both sell individual parts if you need them.

BTW Bikedued, I'm also in Houston and I love fenders. But I have yet to find an LBS in the area who knows squat about them.

I went through the same thing, because I needed to replace one due to a redo of my brakes. All the shops (except one) looked at me like I had two heads. They were more than happy to sell me a full set. Finally had a shop that would sell them to me individually. Charged like $5 each.

I had found them here though :

Hope that helps.

I don't have a link! I do know I can get them at my shop... but that's not going to do you much good unless you feel like a ride up to Toronto. Surely your shop can order them for you!

An alternative DIY version should be available at any welding supply shop. Buy a few 3' sections of 304 stainless steel welding rod of the appropriate diameter and bend them into the shapes you need.
