~+~+~+ What bike stand? ~+~+~+~+ Under $125~+~+~+~+~+~+
Okay, My wall mount bike rack is no longer suitable for mech-ing. I know everybodys gotta sweet lil DIY, and this question has been asked 1,000,001 times. But I don't need NO-MO junk.
What I need is a sturdy stand, and it's gotta fold like a contortionist. My budget is $125, I have a couple in mind, but I have to ask the PRO mechanics on this one.
Thanks boyz

I would recommend the Spin Doctor Pro G3:
https://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=19982&subcategory_ID=4216
It looks similar to the ones put out by Ultimate. I have the ultimate pro elite stand and have found the design very stable and easy to work with. I would expect nothing less from this knock off.
But I will tell you...you don't need a stand. For many years I used the very old school method of hanging a loop of thin rope from the ceiling and hanging my bike on it by passing the seat through the loop. I even built many bikes up from scratch using this method. It is cheap and effective.

It will not hold the weight of the bike, I need to prop something under the front wheel for the bike to remain level.

it was cheap ~+~+~+~+~+~+ but I've used ~+~+~+~+~+~+ it for many years ~+~+~+~+~+~+ and it works great. If I had ~+~+~+~+~+~+ it to do over ~+~+~+~+~+~+ again I'd probably ~+~+~+~+~+~+ spend more money for ~+~+~+~+~+~+ some other features ~+~+~+~+~+~+ but I can't complain.

Yea, that's a good question. I actually have a CAAD7 frame. The down tube is a little large for the way mine was designed, but I was able to easily modify it so it works fine. I have no idea if the current ones are designed for a wider variety of downtube diameters. Mine's about 15 years old.

I can see where that would be anoying, mine seems to work ok I tightened the clamp a little and its ok. I wouldnt put a lot of weight on it but it will hold the bike ok. its a portable stand not a shop quality stand.
