Testing of a Nexus Inter-7 hub

    Dear all,

I would like to buy a used Nexus Inter-7 hub gear readily built in a wheel. I would like to find out if the hub is in good working order. An obvious way of testing the hub would be riding the bike that it is a part of. If it is not a possibility, is there another way of testing the hub on its own, and may be using the gear shifter too?

    Thanks for your advice.

    Tamas

Why wouldn't it be possible to put it on a bike and ride it?

If you're concerned, demand a guarantee it works from the seller. If you're really concerned, buy a new one with a warranty.

Thanks for your reply. Seller provides guarantee if something is wrong with the hub, so that's fine. May be you meant it as a rethoric question -- of course it is possible in principle to try the hub 'on' a bike, but i suppose the seller prefers customers with no such demand (not wanting to risk postage costs even). I just thought there is some effort free way of testing, which the seller could easily do 'for me'. (I could see other auctions for parts where the item was described as in perfect working order.)
