Is this an acceptable way of measuring BB spindle length?
I was wondering if this was an acceptable shortcut for measuring the spindle length- it would require removing just one crank instead of both.
Formula- Total spindle length = (2 X Measured spindle length) + (BB Shell width)
Would this work? Or could the spindle protrude with different lengths from each side?

Assuming the spindle was symmetrical. Taking the other crank off to accurately measure the spindle is another 30 seconds if that. Don't tell me that's too much time.

the asymmetrical thing, and you add a lot of 'play' into the values by taking 2 measurements instead of just one.

I'd do it like this if you're lazy to take off both crank arms.
you still need to take off the bolt holding the crank arm, but less error this way.
