Taking off the plastic chainguard Trek 7.3
Anyone know if this is difficult? I love the bike, but the big plastic chain guard on the crankset adds a huge geek factor. I'm reluctant to try and yank it off just in case it's molded on.

If it's like the 7.5 FX I bought, you need to remove the cassette and the disk will unsnap from the spokes. I doubt it would be 'molded' on anything. Just be sure your derailleur-hanger is adjusted and you know how to keep your rear-derailleur properly adjusted using the stops.

The chainring guard on the FX 7.3 is attached with four Phillips-head screws that can be removed from the back side of the large chainring.
