rear hub spacers

i just had a new rear wheel made, and the hub is 116mm but my bike is 120mm so ill need spacers. I heard from a few places that you can uses pvc piping but i just wanted to check and make sure i wasnt doing anything stupid.

Bike shops will have metal washers and spacers of the right diameter and thickness at low cost. Use them, not plastic pipe.
