No problem with patching them. Just make sure you find the original cause of the problem and fix it first.

With any damage to the inner-tube, you should go over the tube and rim very carefully. You are looking for the culprit. A spoke protruding through an eyelet, sharp object in tire/rim, so forth. Otherwise it will happen again.

I hope you've replaced the old rim strips with Velox rim tape.

I'll patch anything as long as I can cover the puncture with about 2/3rds of the patch. If the puncture is bigger than that, but still too close for two patches to fit or work well I'll trash it.
