Bontrager hub play
I noticed on the ride last evening that the rear hub of my Bontrager Classic wheel has developed some side to side play. I have not had time to look at it closely. Is this simply a matter of adjustment or something worn out? Thanks much!

Just needs to have the cones tightened a bit. If the wheels are less then a year old, have the LBS do the job.

I'm not sure if these hubs are cup-and-cone or cartridge bearings. If the former, they need to be adjusted. If the later, either an adjustment will fix it or, possibly, there is a defective bearing that must be replaced.

E-bay specials from a few yeas back. No warrantee left on these.

Contact Trek (Bontrager's owner) to see if they have any tech info on these wheels. At least they can tell you what type of bearings they have.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I adjusted the cones & all is well!
