Clamp the seat post or seat tube?

Hi,

I recently picked up a work stand ( Universal ) for my Sequoia Comp
bike.

The seat post is advertised as FACT, not sure what that means, and has a Zertz insert
which is supposed to help damp vibration and cushion shock.

The frame is Aluminum...

Does it make a difference if I mount the bike on the stand by the seat post
or the seat tube?

The seat post Zertz insert is fairly large so there is not a lot of supporting
material left...

Of course crushing the seat tube would ruin anyones day.

Thanks,

Jerry

just dont clamp down on the sp real hard. If you really need to torque on the frame like removing the bb, put the bike on the ground or put in an aluminum post

If it was my bike I'd buy a cheap Kalloy seat post that's the right size and clamp that.

Buy the cheapest seatpost you can that matches your seat tube's ID.

Use that.

"Build post," they call it.
