Tire patch kits and waste
 

Vulcanizing patch kits all seem to come with the some combination of a few small circular patches, a few larger circular patches and a few large rectangular patches.

Is there a place to purchase a vulcanizing tire patch kit that doesn't have the useless, larger size patches in it?

So far, I haven't had a hole larger than a 1-2 mm slit, so all I need are the small round ones. I end up cutting down the larger ones to use them, but it would make my life much easier, if I could skip that step.

I have to think that bike shops can get them in bulk, at whatever size they wish, (do they even patch tires at bike shops anymore or do they just change out tubes?)

try biketoolsetc.com they have vulcanizing patches in sizes and you can buy them in bulk too.in most cases the shops only replace tubes & tires today. It seem to be a lost art to patch them any more,and that shouldn't be. I help lot of the kids here by patching tubes & tires for them ,knowing they or their parents can not buy new in today market.

If you're getting flats frequently, I'd suggest checking inside the tire for any sharp things that might be embedded. Other than that - look into tires that have a solid Kevlar-belt. Seems you live in an area that has a lot of litter-bugs.

They have a box of 100 small, feathered patches. Exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks! :thumb:

Thanks for the input. After going for several years with absolutely no flats what so ever, I had a bad streak there for a few months (I had switched from Armadillos to Gatorskins, but now I've switched back). ;)
