Question about Crank Swap & Tooth #'s

I have a Surly Cross Check with the Andel Crankset 36/48 110BCD. I am interested in putting on a FSA Energy Cyclocross crankset 36/46 110BCD.

I was wondering if I could keep the 48t ring from the Andel and swap it over to the FSA instead of the 46t it has.

Will this create any problems with shifting? Anything special I'd need to do?

Thanks.

Should be fine. Concerns when swapping rings include BDC - same here - and derailleur tooth difference capacity - unchanged with the swap. I'd make sure that the limit screws on front derailleur are right after the swap, but things should work fine.

you should use both chainrings from the 36/48 instead of just swapping the outer, unless the inner ring is really worn out.

some chainrings just don't like working with each other and will drop the chain when you mix them.
