BB5 vs BB7 Dics Brakes

Is the BB7 worth the extra money, or can the BB5 hold its own in an upgrade?

IMHO, BB5 are a pain to setup just right. The work pretty well, but getting there can be a chore.

I know the BB7s are pretty easy to adjust. So I'll just spend the extra money the BB7s.

Go for the BB7, easier to adjust. Most say thumbs up for BB7 as gold standard of mechanical discs.

I have had zero problems/aggravations with BB7s on a six-year-old bike.

Like everyone else says, BB7s work great and are great to work on. BB5s work fine as well, but there is less room for ultra fine tuning. They use different pads as well, and I've had problems with the seperator spring on the 5s holding one pad or the other crooked.

If you're looking at a new bike that comes with BB5 brakes, go for it. If you're looking to upgrade, the sevens are worth the minor price difference.
