What are these tools and what do I use them for?
 

I heard pictures were good.

Found these in the bottom of a box with random bike tools and parts. May or may not actually be bike tools.

Some of them are just different sizes of hex wrench ends, but the other parts I have no idea...

Either way they are cheap. I'd just like to verify that I don't need them for something before I throw them out.

cone wrenches?

They seem to be the cheap "universal" wrenches that came with kids/Department store quality bikes in the past. They fit various axle nuts and other bolts.

The operatrive word is "cheap". They werw basically sheet metal and of little to no value as tools. They may have some collectors value but as tools they are useless.

Old Raleigh bicycles - talking 3-spd's here - used to come with a similar gizmo as those. It was simply referred to as the All-In-One, or 'that thing.' One aperture fit the bolt on top of of the stem, another the hub-bolts, and I don't think anyone at one time figured out what they all were for. They still exist in many uncleaned garages in the bottom of dirty boxes that smell of mold. Bet they'd sell on eBay...

Haha! The box was quite dirty and DID smell of mold.

Not really. Enough people have them that they really aren't worth much of one's time. I found a similar set in a box at a flea market and the person wanted $2.50 for them. I would say that was overpriced (as much as the rest of the booth was). I even acquired a set of them for about 1-2% of that price.

OP: Hold onto them if they're interesting to you, but if you just seek collector's value, throw them out. You won't get any.

Those are the original multi tools and these appear to be pretty low end versions... there are some nicer ones out there.

I have a few of these that have a 15mm box end, a small square fitting, and a lock ring tool which is what you need on a bike that is fitted with an English coaster hub.

The box end is for the wheel nuts, the small square is for the right side of the axle (it's squared) and is used to adjust the bearings, and the lock ring tool is there because they have a threaded driver and lock ring like a track hub.

There's enough there to do a nice art installation with. Mounted and framed they'd look nice on your workshop wall.
