10spd road cassete to MTB cassette, 9sp?
So i'm looking at changing my cassete/dr for mtb cassete/dr for wider gear range for tourers. Bike has 10 speed shimano 105 sti shifters. Wondering if there is a 10 speed mountain cassette, or if it's possible to run a 9 speed with the 10speed shifter.

SRAM is coming out with a 10 speed MTB cassette, but not for awhile yet. To make a 10 speed shifter and RD shift to 9 speed spacing, a J-tek shiftmate can be used to increase the cable pull.
An alternate cable routing might work. The idea is to shorten the RD's effective lever arm length, resulting in more RD travel for a given amount of cable pull.

IRD makes a 10-speed Shimano compatible mountain type cassette.
Just the thought of those big ratio jumps makes my knees hurt.

The IRD 10 speed cassettes work fine-you will also need a MTB rear derailleur also-this can be "9 speed"-it will work fine with your 105 shifters
