noise on new bike
I just bought a 2004 Gary Fisher Marlin a few days ago and have gotten to "break it in" on two 16 mile road surface trips thus far.
So far, things are fine except when I pedal I hear this "burrrmmmggg...burrrmmmggg...burrrmmmggg" noise consistently. It only makes this noise while pedaling, not coasting.
It's more annoying than anything (I want a quiet bike, at least while it's new!), but does it mean I need to put some lube in the pedal sockets (or whatever they are called)?
Do brand new bikes come lubed up?
Thank you for the help!

You can adjust the front derailler's position with the barrel adjuster on the left hand shifter. Twisting it clockwise will loosen the cable and cause the derailer to move inwards towards the frame. Turning it counter-clockwise will tighten the cable and cause the derailler to move outwards away from the frame.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like either the front derailleur is slightly misadjusted or the cranks are loose. Take it back to the shop you bought it from and have them look at it.
