Bolts for cantilever bosses on miyata 1000

Hey folks: My bolt fell off one of my canti bosses this AMs commute. I noticed it at my train so couldn't analyze the situation. I have my canti arms/spring but no bolt. I don't think the bolt broke off, probably unscrewed and fell off. Does anyone know which size bolt I need. It is a Miyata 1000(mid 80's). I would like to buy it before I take the train home. If not, going to be an interesting ride Thanks, Charlie

I probably have a bolt you can use, if you can't find it locally.

You're going to get it to him in Baltimore today? What a guy!

It may be the same size as the remaining bolt. Could you remove it to size it??

If not ... how were you going to install the new one

Thanks for the offer but the LBS knew the size. Apparently 'most' are similar.

I should have removed the other but my train was arriving before I could really do much. Install was quick and easy w/ the exception of a nasty thunderstorm. Baltimore was hammered yesterday just when I got off the train to repair it.

All the canti bosses I've seen have been threaded 6M x 1.0, which should be available at any decent hardware store.

Agreed. M6 should do it. Be sure to get stainless.

You can also take the bolt off of the other side and bring it with you. If they don't have one that is long enough, you should be fine with one that is just a bit shorter.
