SRAM Rival // Jtek Shiftmate // IRD Cassette // Ultegra Long Cage RD
Short story is that we did a training ride over two of the five deathride passes on Friday. I am running a 12-26 SRAM cassette with Rival RD. I've been waiting to install the 11-28 cassette until a bit closer to the ride but after Friday, I am looking for options to get a lower gear.
Has anybody done this but with Rival brifters, a shiftmate from Jtek, and a 11-34 IRD cassette?
FWIW, I am running a compact double (34/50).
I also looked at the new SRAM XX stuff which looks to be a somewhat more 'clean' solution. I don't know if I will be able to get my hands on it soon enough for the deathride. I also looked at a triple but I absolutely am uncomfortable with the Shimano brifters.
Thanks,
Todd

The thread title mentions an Ultegra RD. I expect that a road RD won't be able to clear the 34 tooth cassette cog. You will need an MTB RD for that.
