mavic rims worn out

My Mavic Equipe rims circa 2005 are now worn out, and make me nervous. The front is 20H and the rear is 24H. I can't find exact replacements but have learned that DT Swiss and also Velocity make such rims. What would the experts here suggest? I can get new spokes from my LBS if needed.

I'd suggest you first analyze whether you need low-spoked wheels for how you ride. Or, more specifically, if you race. If you don't race, perhaps you'd consider getting some more tough and durable wheels for your bicycle. Other than this, there are lots of rims you could be looking at. But I'd want to know, first off, what you plan/need to have these wheels do for you - and your riding situation. Asking these sorts of questions is, I'd hope, the hallmark of a true and honest salesman.

correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the hubs and spokes proprietary mavic straight pulls and not your typical J-bend spokes that are easily found at most bike shops?

seeing as the rim wore out, your spokes need to be replaced as well, so you'll need a mavic rim, or another rim with the same ERD/spoke count and mavic rims/nipples.
