9 spd cassette compatability

I currently have a Tiagra HG50 9 spd 12/25.

I want to get a little lower gearing and I thought about a HG80 11-28.

I don't think there should be a problem, but I am still confused about the 11 tooth. Does it use a different lockring?

The lock ring comes with the cassette, use the same tool to put it on that you use to take off the HG50.

FYI: Your rear derailer might not clear 28T, if it is a shimano road derailer it is only guaranteed to work with 27T. That said, it probably won't be a problem, I am pretty sure there are people around running 29T.

I have a long cage Tiagra rear derailleur, so I shouldn't have a clearance problem. Thanks.

The length of the derailleur cage has nothing to do with big cog clearance. A long cage Tiagra will most likely clear a 28t cog, but so will a short cage.
