Preserving/restoring brake hoods
 

Does anyone know of a way to restore brake hoods that are starting to get gummy? They aren't completely shot but, they are getting that real tacky feel like they are on the front end of breaking down. Is there something you can put on them to bring them back? Thanks..

Some people use ArmorAll. But I've found this makes gum hoods dry out even faster in the long run. Anyone have a good, time-tested, method for this? I'm quite curious too.
