How to shift campy?
Ok so my neighbor gave me his bianchi  but I don't know how to shift with this.. I would assume it just needs new cables, but it won't shift to the larger cogs in the back. I shifter down to the smallest on the first ride since it was going downhill, but now its stuck, and the hills are killing me
So, it's campy mirage. I know you push the lever on the side down, but for the lever behind the brake lever do I push it REALLY far or is it just in need of new cables? Thanks. |
Lever might be broken. Check out parktool.com for basic repairs. If that doesn't do the trick, well, I am no Campy person....

either the cable is stuck or the return spring is broken.
there are many video guides on how to fix broken campy shifters, if a new cableset doesn't fix the problem. |
Alright thanks, I'll take it into the shop to take a look
|
I forgot to mention, campy brake cables are different from shimano/everyone else.
slightly smaller heads and slightly slimmer cable. |
If you push the finger lever "really far" it will shift up to 3 cogs larger with one sweep of the lever. Be sure that you are not applying pressure to thumb button while trying to move the finger lever - that will make the finger lever inoperable.

AEO - thanks for the info.
Upon a 2 second examination, I see the housing is kinda shredded where it goes into a cable mount on the frame. This is the (a?) problem. Getting some new housing tommorow, 'long with a tune up and new bar tape. Well, I'm doing the tune up, as I work at a shop. I'm not experienced with campy stuff, hence the questioning. |
