How to tune up?
I have a 7 year old big box Schwinn that, quite frankly, sucks. But it's what I have for now and it has started making a grinding type noise that sounds like its coming from the front gears like the chain is rubbing on something but I cant find out where. Also, when pedaling normally the chain feels like it "skips" every couple of rotations.
I don't know much about it but are there any guides or videos online where I can learn what all the little screws and stuff do and what to tighten, loosen, etc?

You know, I was looking for a sticky like that. That thread title should really be changed as it's not very descriptive of the contents. I always ignore those new poster stickies because they always contain information about what to post and what not to post. The title should reflect the fact that there is useful technical information in there for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing your bicycle.

We get enough duplicate questions in here to put Xerox to shame.
