which 105 front D is compatible with a triple crankset?

The shimano tiagra clamp on front D that came with my allez is broken beyond repair and I figure i may as well upgrade to a 105. now I believe that the one in this link is a compatible replacement, can anybody tell me yes or no one way or the other?

The link is broken.

Please state your current crank model, it's speed, and the Tiagra model FD you wish to replace, because we don't know, as 9 speed and 10 speed FD's are different.

I believe you need one that ends in a 3, right? FD-5603 in the correct clamp size. An older 5503 might be better if you are running 9-speed cranks/chainrings.

You need a Shimano 9-speed triple road front derailleur other than Dura-Ace. The D-A triple had 53-39-30 chainrings. All other Shimano 9-speed road triples had 52-42-30 rings. FD 6503, 5503, etc.

No, 'any' triple will not work. You need one optimized for the 42t middle CW. FD made for the newer 39t middle CW will NOT clear the 42t CW, or to put it another way have to be moved up the ST too far for full range triple shifting to occur. I and a friend are wrestling with this now as he had to 'borrow' my older 9spd triple FD when he swapped his 39t 10spd middle cw for a 44t middle CW and the 10spd
triple FD refused to pass the 44t CW. My old 9spd FD works fine for him, but now I can't get the 10spd FD to clear the 42t when I swapped the 10spd compact back to the 9spd 30-42-52 triple in prep for a recent foray on the Cherohala. There is a 6-8mm increase in vertical height of the metal on the back
side of the FD cage in 10spd FD over older 9spd FD and this increase is what causes the FD cage to hit the 42t CW in shift up to the 52t CW.

More annoying is that my friend was told the older style of FD for 30-42-52
CW are 'not available'. FWIW if you change the middle ring to a 39 you likely
can use a 10spd triple on a 9spd set up. I borrowed my friends' unused 39t
CW and it was working ok, but the setup has become a little fiddly shifting down to the 30 past few days.

Don't despair about it rockabilly808, it's not as if the 9sp. FD's don't exist anymore. It appears you would need a 105 FD-5503 or FD-5504.

Ebay has lots of FD's.

What does this say about Shimano though, when you have a drivetrain a few years old and you can't even get the correct part for it without searching the globe. It seems bicycle parts manufacturers like Shimano have an identity crisis, they forget they make bike parts, not computers. They don't need to be "upgraded" every year. Three cheers for friction shifting

Here is what you want. LBS should have no problem and will save on shipping.
