SRAM X9 rear derailleur, repairable????

what a way to end a great day of exploring fine fine singletrack.

stick got up into the rear. snapped the rear derailleur hanger and bent the 2 plates that hold the jockey wheels (what are those plates called?) will my chain be ok??

i guess its easy to get a hanger for a giant trance, right?????

also, can you buy spare parts (eg the 2 plates that hold the jockey wheels) for a SRAM X9 rear derailleur?

any help appreciated
max

I seriously doubt you can get replacement parts for the derailleurs "cage" (that's what the two plates are called). Modern derailleurs generally aren't repairable and certainly not after major damage.

Older riders will remember when repair parts were available for Campy rear derailleurs but the cost of parts was high enough that major damage was not worth repairing.

As to your chain, it's impossible to tell without seeing it.

Probably, just replace what links that were damaged, but can't be sure without pics.

Probably - go to you nearest Giant dealer and they should be able to help.

Maybe - I think I may have seen something like that, but I wouldn't count on it. Search around Bikeparts.com.
