Single click- Bottom Bracket?
My wifes Giant FCR clicks. The click seems to come from the BB/crank area. Each time she pushes down hard at the 2-3 oclock position. It only clicks once on the right side and then will not click on the right side again until the left side is pushed hard enough to click. It is not related to which gear she is in. Is the BB loose? Crank arms seem tight enough (I do not have a torque wrench).
Thanks..
Thanks..

Is this a cartridge BB? When those start to loosen up a little, it'll rock inside the BB shell when you mash hard, which causes a clicking noise like you've described.
Solution: Remove, regrease threads, reinstall (tight).

OP-
Hope the clicking goes away with the BB reseating.
If not, I have seen these things being the cause of your clicking: cable housings, handlebar/stem, shoes/cleats/pedals, saddle. Lots of possible disguises.

Yes it is a cartridge BB.
I think I have isolated to crank area. Pedals are tight, I know the noise at the stem (fixed that one already).
She doesn't use clipless pedals.
I guess it time to buy a torque wrench.

Lately Giant's have been coming with loose BB's. Take the cranks off, the BB out, grease and reinstall.
But... your LBS should do this for free if it is a recent purchase

I am sure they would do it. (for a reasonable fee) However I take joy and pride in doing as much as I can myself.

You many find the following links helpful in tracking it down:
https://sheldonbrown.com/creaks.html
AND
https://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=123
It's usually just a matter of patiently removing, cleaning,
re-lubing, and re-torquing fasteners until it quiets down.

Check out the saddle as well. I had a clicking sound during my pedalling and it turned out to be aloose saddle.

I have exactly the same problem, (Trek mtb 6700 3 years old, relatively light and rare use)
I get one single click if I press the pedal hard. (I can even get it at standstill @6:00 if I step in the pedal)
The interesting thing is that I only get it, if the other side has already clicked. (imo excludes pedals problem)
If it clicked once, no matter how hard I try I cant get it again, but the other side clicks easily. (This works even if I rotate in reverse)
That makes me thing that it is bottom bracket related.
There is a small chance that it is related with the back wheel quick release,
I will try to exclude this by clicking while holding the bike in the air, but this is hard because clicking requires enough force.
Does anybody have previous experience/ ideas / suggestions?

Just in case somebody has the same problem in the future:
Removing, cleaning, re-greasing the bottom bracket (hollowtech ii) and the crank set made the click go away.
