Top Pull Derailleur Help

Is there any way to convert a top pull ft der to a bottom pull? I'm not inclined to have new cable brazeons fitted to the bike just to use it.

A new, proper pull fd is probably the easiest, and most likely the cheapest, fix.

If your current FD cable housing is the problem you might find the solution in rerouting it. My older Simplex FD was a pushrod type and when I converted over to a Shimano Deore XT I discovered that I could not use the same cabling setup. Inspired, I ran the cable housing under the bottom bracket and back through the chain stays. It works like a charm. Even though there is quite a radius in the new route I have not had any problems. I do use the teflon coated cables and cable housing from Jagwire and they are great. Interestingly enough, I did that back in 1982. Nowadays almost all derailleur cables are run under the bottom bracket through a guide mounted to the bracket.

A dual-pull FD may solve your problems. I tried a pulley to convert a top-pull to bottom-pull. Forget it.
