Wheel Build Advice

Having built a basic 32-spoke, 3-cross rear wheel I'm planning something more ambitious: a 24f/28r wheelset built with Novatec hubs, Kinlin xr-300s and Cx-Ray spokes. I think I'll use radial lacing on the front wheel (unless someone can dissuade me), and I'm leaning towards 2-cross on the rear. As for nipples, I'm conflicted: aluminum front and brass rear? Brass on the rear drive side only? Or should I just swallow the weight penalty and build with all brass nipples? I'm not a huge fan of aluminum nipples; bad weather seems to quickly corrode them, which leads to rounding off and headaches. That said, with proper thread prepping, maybe I can get away with using them. I'm eager to hear what you experienced wheel builders suggest.
Also, could you recommend a bracing tool for bladed spokes?

Building radial will negate the warranty of many hubs. Read the fine print.
