Front derailer/barell adjustment compression

Replaced my front derailer cable recently, but since the change the short housing cable next to the barrel adjusted compresses as I tighten, and as such, the cable will not stay in adjustment. Today I replaced all the housing furroughs and the short section of housing but am still getting the new piece compressed.

Its gotten me stumped. Any ideas?

Your question has ME stumped. Do you have a photo or two of whats going on? And your barrel-adjuster?

Photos are attached. The setup is like :

shifter | furrough | short section of housing | furrough | barrell adjuster | furrough | long housing to derailer

Its the short section of housing that is getting pulled thru the furroughs and compressed. The problem is that the derailer won't stay adjusted.
