Recessed Nut for Front Brake
Hi,
I have a Schwinn Traveler from like 1980's and the recessed nut for the front brake has came off, I guess from vibrations, while riding.
I am now in search for a new recessed nut. Using a piece of paper and measuring tape, I measured the longest length that I can have for the nut which would fit. It came off to about 22mm, but probably not too accurate. Now on Sheldon Brown, the shortest length they have is 22mm, but I fear that it might be too long and in the end bottom out on the other side of the fork and therefore, would not be able to tighten the brake axle to the fork.
What are the standard lengths of this so called "recessed nut"?
This is the nut I was referring to

I also could not find a shorter one anywhere

Have you tried a local bike shop? They often have these nuts in various lengths.
