9 speed crankset with 7 speed cassette
I have a mid 90s Raleigh M-400 mountain bike. Currently has mostly Shimano STX-RC components.
The bottom bracket is trashed and I am looking to replace the crankset as well as the bb.

I am considering this crankset but am conerned because it is a 9spd crankset.
The bb is 68mm and either 110mm or 113mm spindle. (Haven't had the time to remove the bb yet)
I have a 7 speed cassette and do not plan to swap that out as I'll have to get a whole new rear wheel.

I plan to put that chain on the rig as well.
Will this crankset work with the existing 7 speed cassette with 7 speed chain?

The PC-850 chain is only $12 right now from Jenson; I use the even-lower-down-the-line PC-830 chains with great success, so if you're looking to save some money, check it out.
