Is the FSA gossamer compact crankset compatible with shimano bottom brackets
I unfortunately bought an FSA gossamer compact crankset.
After a few thousand miles the poor quality FSA bb-6000 bottom bracket is failing which is typical.
I was caught unaware by the low quality bearings of the FSA BB and the fact that they want to require their BB for their crankset.
I bought a replacement shimano dura ace bottom bracket SM-BB7900 which seems to be ever so slightly narrow for the spindle.
It is not an easy fit.
I read elsewhere where someone tapped and forced the bottom bracket on the crank spindle.
He said he used an ultegra 6600 BB.
The question is what are the 1000's people doing with these cranksets with regards to BB replacements ?
Are they throwing it away after the BB fails ?
Do they buy a new BB monthly from FSA at $60 a pop ?
What have others done to avoid the low quality FSA 6000 replacement ?
Is there a quality, cost effective BB replacement ?
Can I force the shimano BB onto the crankset safely ?

Yep FSA BB's don't last long. I installed a Dura Ace 7900 BB with my Gossamer crank and it spins smooth as butta. Very simple install. I goy my BB at https://www.universalcycles.com/

discussed here
I am using a Utegra BB with a FSA gossamer compact crank and it works fine, I can switch between my Utegra and Gossamer using the same Shimano BB and only need to adjust FD but I did try it with the FD were it was setup for the Utegra 39-53 crank and it actually did shift OK but I prefer moving it down for the compact crank setup.
