so, is my pump kaflooey?

I have a 4 year old Avenir Air Source 2500 which has been a highly serviceable pump. I've had it for about 4 years, three of those it didn't get any use at all. It was working great then last week it just suddenly wouldn't pump anymore--there was no resistance on the down stroke. I pondered this awhile then took the thing apart. I discovered that the "o" ring was cut in half. So, I replaced that with one from Ace Hardware since I couldn't find anything about Avenir pumps on the web. The old "o" ring was made out of some kind of composite material and the new one is rubber. Anyway, the pump still isn't working properly, I can only get it up to about 60psi. Do I need to quit complaining and get a new pump or is there something else I should do. I have greased and oiled it, btw. Thanks.

I suspect the rubber O-ring isn't up to the task. You will need either a direct-replacement O-ring (no I don't know where to get one) or a new pump.

You can get a really decent pump, e.g. the Hurricane at Performance, for about $30-35.

If the manufacturer is still around, contact them for parts. Pumps frequently need replacement parts.

I'm about to check Blackburn for parts for mine. Frequently the rubber seals on the pump heads go bad just from wear. Last time, they sent me a set for free.
