Any reason not to strip ToPeak black rack?

Will I be losing any strength by stripping a black aluminum Topeak explorer rack?

If paint stripper will remove the finish I would not expect any strength loss. Any method that actually removes aluminum along with the finish might weaken it slightly depending on how much is removed.

You realize that rack does come in silver right.

It's powdercoat, so it'll certainly be fun to strip. I'd scuff and paint if you want a different color, because powdercoat is a better primer than you'll ever get on bare aluminum yourself.
