    Can I convert a Shimano 9-speed Tiagra to a 10 speed?

My road bike has a Shimano 4500 Tiagra 9 speed shifter. After 6,000 miles, it's starting to show some wear and I need to replace it. All my other components are 105. Since I'm going to upgrade, I was thinking going to a ten speed. Will a 10 speed cassette fit where the 9 speed cassette was? They are Bontrager wheels.

If a 10 speed cassette will easily fit, I'll upgrade to a 10 speed shifter, cassette and chain and of coarse rear derailleur

Yep, it'll work. You don't need to change the rear derailleur. Just shifters, cassette, and chain.

Thanks mzeffex - that makes it easy. I wasn't sure it the rear cassette would be a simple swap. I'm due for a new chain and cassette. Tiagra shifters are toast, so when I upgrade, I may as well go 10 speed.

With a Shimano 10-speed cassette you'll need to use the 1mm spacer at the back of the cassette. This spacer comes with a new Shimano 10-speed cassette. The 10-speed Shimano cassettes are 1 mm narrower overall than the 9-speed cassettes.
