White Industries Hubs
What experience has anyone had with them?
They look like a lower-cost alternative to PW, with things I like such as high spoke count, cartridge bearings, polished finish.
One thing I can't find on the website is service information.
With PW, they publish flat rates.
Has anyone had experience getting a White freehub serviced?

I have an ENO eccentric hub and I would say that is is on par with the PW. They are easily serviced and well designed.

I emailed them once about some hub parts and got a great response. The hubs themselves come apart quite easily and I think the bearings are fairly standard and easily available. This was all with the older series hubs and it was a few years ago but they seemed to really support the idea of supplying parts to maintain the older parts instead of just telling you to go buy new ones.

A couple I know was riding 'round the USA (down the west coast, across, up the east coast, and back) and had a flange break on their tandem hub a little more than 1/2 way while in Georgia. They called White and got an entire built wheel shipped to them via Next Day Air. I don't know what they paid for this service (if, indeed, they paid anything), but they didn't even lose a day on schedule.

Sounds like White bought some invaluable advertising. And I'll wager it was free to the couple you know. I've heard nothing but good about White hub-sets. Nothing fantastic with titanium breasts and chrom~moly backsides - just works as it should and doesn't fall apart - usually.
I'd build wheels around them.

A few years ago I got a White Industries "Speed Racer" (iirc) rear mountain bike hub (135mm) cheap from someone who bought it and never had it built up. I called White and the lady there knew exactly what i had, and sold me a new hub shell and end spacer to convert it to an LTA road hub (130mm). The new hub shell even came with brand-new bearings pressed in, so I now have an extra set of bearings (ie- the ones that were in the Speed-Racer hub shell). I was so impressed with the service that I got a matching LTA front hub and built up a wheel set around those hubs.
As far as servicing goes, I'm sure they would do it for you, but there really is no reason. The whole hub can be disassembled with a single allen wrench. The bearings pretty much last forever, I have never had to touch mine and they are probably four years old.
