Shimano 2/3 shifter

I had to replace my worn Tiagra 2 speed shifter. The LBS had a pair of 105's take off's at a great price. These shifters are typically listed as 2/3 speeds. Because I'm replacing a two speed, would I need to modify the left shifter in any way to work on a two speed vesus a three speed?

No just adjust the FD limits as indicated for the double chainwheel and the triple
brifter will work fine. Triples have actually four positions, with the middle two
being about 2/3 or a bit less of a full shift to give you some vernier on the chain
position in the FD cage reducing chain rattle at the ends of the cassette.
