when silicone sits, it leaves a coating as well, although it's not solid. it is water repellant, non corrosive and doesn't collect dirt. It will need re-application a little more frequently than teflon, but that's the trade off for the price (In my area anyways, the teflon stuff is a lot more expensive).

btw Panther, anyone who says they remember woodstock wasn't REALLY there.
