I understand tha concept of big front big rear + 2 for determining chain length.

I've just swapped my normal double for a compact. I've sized the chain but the result is more like big big + 2.5 rather than 2. Which is better 2.5 or 1.5?

It's better if your chain is a tad too long rather than too short.
