rear wheel/hub question (im sure it's simple)
im sure this is a simple question, but here it is -
if i flip my bike upside-down and spin the rear wheel, it seems to "wobble." im sure the solution is easy, im just wondering what part of the wheel the problem is coming from. do i just need to replace the whole wheel? or just a certain part of the hub...?
any help would be appreciated!

it sounds like your wheel is out of true. It happens. You can either learn to true it yourself by tightening various spokes where the woop is, or you can take it to a lbs and have them do it. If you end up trying to fix it by yourself, watch some videos and read about truing wheels first. You can do more harm than good if you just jump in there are start turning things, but there is only one way to learn. Good luck!

Like Jerlwie post said, don't just jump in there and start twisting an turning away. Time spent learning how to replace a broken spoke and retrue the wheel, is time well spent. Its even better to have someone who has done it before sit down and show ya the basic steps.
Odds are that the broken spoke is in the freewheel side, in which case you'll need to buy a chain whip AND a freewheel remover which fits your style of freewheel. You'll also need a big crescent wrench, probably 1"; and of course some extra spokes to replace the one(s) that are broken.
With proper tools and experience ya can replace a spoke and retrue the wheel in less than half an hour. When I am on my tours I wait till evening at my campsite, unless the wobble is really serious.

It could be a bent rear axle.
a broken rear axle
damaged wheel bearings.
damaged hub
a tyre thats not seated right.
rim cracking at spoke holes
loose spokes
broken spokes
spoke nipples that have stripped there threads
If its axle trouble, which is common. Especially on the older style freewheel hubs. You can get replacement axles. Though theres a few differet lengths and thickness.
If the hubs damaged, or the rim cracked. Its new wheel time. Though you can get other parts to rebuild them. Itsa bit complicated to do. And will probably be as expensive as a new wheel.
