help installing fenders

Sounds simple, but there are a couple of tricks I need some advice on.

I bought the "Axiom RainRunner Reflex + disk" fenders. The rear fender doesn't quite fit between the chainstays at the one end, and though it comes with a bolt for installation, the bridge on my bike isn't drilled. Am I stuck with trimming the end down and affixing it with a zip-tie, or are their more elegent options? Would I be better off with a different brand that is more suited to my application? (i.e. narrower, with a clip or something?)

Thanks!

Neil

OK, In case anyone searches this thread out with the same issue, I'm going to answer my own question based on my experience with these fenders: Yes, you are stuck with trimming down the end and zip-tying the fender to the bridge. Other brands may be different, but I doubt it. Actually, the zip tie is pretty clean and subtle.

Also, rather than using the Sheldon nuts to make my recessed brake bolts compatible with the front fender, I adapted the hanger on the brake to sit inside the fork crown. Details in the 'tips' thread for those who care.
